Saudi Arabia Introduces Digital Hajj Permits for 2025

Saudi Arabia has launched a new digital service to streamline Hajj permits for the 2025 pilgrimage season. Through the Tawakkalna app, pilgrims and workers can now access all official permits required for Hajj, ensuring smoother movement within the holy cities of Mecca and Medina.

This initiative is part of the “Tasreeh” (permits) system, a unified digital platform developed by the Saudi Ministry of Interior in collaboration with the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA). The service allows both domestic and international pilgrims to verify their Hajj permits, ensuring only authorized individuals can enter the sacred sites.

The new system, called “Tasreeh” (permits), was created by the Saudi Ministry of Interior in partnership with the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA). It provides a centralized platform for verifying Hajj permits, ensuring only authorized individuals can enter the holy sites. The service is integrated with the Ministry of Hajj’s Nusuk platform and covers various types of permits, including those for pilgrims, seasonal workers, volunteers, and transportation providers.

Saudi authorities have implemented strict measures to prevent unauthorized pilgrims from participating in Hajj. Heavy fines and penalties apply to both violators and those who assist them. These regulations help maintain order and ensure a smooth experience for legitimate pilgrims.

Last year, around 1.8 million people performed Hajj, with 1.6 million coming from outside Saudi Arabia. Hajj is one of the Five Pillars of Islam, required for all Muslims who are physically and financially able to undertake the journey at least once in their lifetime.

By digitizing the permit process, Saudi Arabia aims to improve efficiency, reduce fraud, and enhance the overall Hajj experience. This initiative supports the country’s Vision 2030 goals of using technology to improve government services and streamline large-scale events like the annual pilgrimage. The move reflects Saudi Arabia’s commitment to facilitating Hajj for Muslims worldwide while maintaining security and organization during this significant religious event.
